The rare species Hohenbuehelia josserandii was recorded in Slovakia for the first time. The locality in the Súľovské vrchy Hills is one of the easternmost in Europe. Basidiomata were produced on branches of freshly fallen silver fir (Abies alba). Field observations and morphological characteristics of the species are described in detail and compare...

... However, recent regular mycological research in old-growth forests in Slovakia has hardly been conducted. Sporadic mycological activities and complex results have lately only been published in Adamčík et al. (2007Adamčík et al. ( , 2016, Bučinová et al. (2012), Kunca (2016), Ujházy et al. The first record of Metuloidea fragrans in the Czech Republic in Podyjí National Park is reported. A description of macroscopic and microscopic characters is given, its habitat is characterised including photographs. The identification of the specimen was confirmed by the DNA sequence of the ITS region of the ribosomal RNA gene. The distribution and phenology of the species is discussed. ... species have ellipsoid or cylindrical spores and/or different cystidia. The microscopically very similar Kneiffiella abdita Riebesehl & E. Langer (= Chaetoporellus latitans (Bourdot & Galzin) Bondartsev & Singer ex Singer) differs by its labyrinthine poroid to irpicoid hymenophore and somewhat smaller spores and basidia, and based on our experience it is a rare species growing on hardwood trees in floodplain and beech forests (Dvořák & Běťák 2017, Tejklová & Zíbarová 2018. ...

The article supplements authors previous published data and summarises records of lignicolous macromycetes found during their excursions to Podunajská nížina Lowland, Slovakia in 2018–2020. A total of 438 taxa were recorded, of which 259 were not published in the first paper. Short discussions of 70 rare, endangered or otherwise interesting taxa are presented. The most interesting recorded species are: Amaurodon mustialaensis, Ceriporia pierii, Ceriporia sulphuricolor, Dichostereum effuscatum, Gloeocystidiellum bisporum, Gloeodontia columbiensis, Hydropus trichodermus, Odonticium helgae, Phlebia tremelloidea, Sistotrema subtrigonospermum and Trechinothus smardae.
... Achroomyces effusus was described from Poland. It is currently known from several European countries (Wojewoda, 1977;Jülich, 1984;Tejklová & Zíbarová, 2018), being likely overlooked due to inconspicuous basidiomata. Wojewoda (1977) mentioned that there may be two species under this name, as there are conflicting reports on the presence or absence of clamps on hyphae. ...
... This species is associated with dead trunks and branches of deciduous trees, less often conifers. Thus, the most common species is reported from wood with Alnus incana (Bourdot & Galzin, 1928;Wojewoda, 1977;Jülich, 1984;Tejklová & Zíbarová, 2018). There are records on Fagus sylvatica L. Prior to a present paper, 918 species of basidiomycete fungi were known in the Pskov region (Russia), including 512 species recorded in the Sebezhskiy National Park. Fungal inventorying studies in Protected Areas are an important part of biodiversity assessment. The сonstantly expanding knowledge on this vast group of organisms, powered by new finds in the field and advances in molecular genetics, make fungal inventorying in any territory a long-term effort rather than an isolated event. In 2019, we assessed the fungal biota of the Polistovskiy State Nature Reserve (Pskov region, Russia) in various forest types in the core and buffer zones along nine designated routes. The material was studied using the standard methods of fungal taxonomy. As a result, 74 basidomycete species new to Pskov region were revealed. Among them, six species (Galerina hybrida, Gymnopus erythropus, Lepiota boudieri, Pluteus velutinus, Rugosomyces obscurissimus, and Simocybe haustellaris) were new to the Northwest of European Russia and four species (Achroomyces effusus, Botryobasidium stigmatisporum, Galerina caulocystidiata, and Pseudobaeospora celluloderma) were new for Russia. The former are here provided with brief notes, whereas the latter are supplied with descriptions of studied specimens, drawings of microstructures and discussion of their distribution, habitats, similar and closely related species, and current state of knowledge. We found also Hemistropahria albocrenulata, a protected species in Finland and the adjacent Leningrad region and Novgorod region. Helicogloea compressa was registered for the second time in Russia, with another record in St. Petersburg city. Despite substantially expanding our knowledge of the mycobiota in both the Polistovskiy State Nature Reserve and Pskov region, the present data are still insufficient for a comprehensive quantitative analysis of its structure.

The article deals with records of Amaurodon mustialaensis (Thelephoraceae), one from Hrabanovská černava National Nature Monument in the Nymburk District, Czech Republic, which is the first record of this species from the country, and another one from Ostrovné lúčky Nature Reserve, Slovakia, which is the second record from this country. A macroscopic and microscopic description, accompanied by a photograph of a basidioma and a line drawing of microcharacters, are provided together with a discussion on the ecology of the species and a summarisation of its distribution in Europe. A key to similarly coloured corticioid species is provided.

In Spring 2022, philodendron plants in South Italy showed rotting and drop of inflorescences. Inspecting the inner part of the inflorescences, abundant white mould was observed. Hyphodermella rosae was isolated from symptomatic tissues and found to be responsible of the disease after Koch’s postulate accomplishment. Morphological and molecular characterization by ITS, RBP and TEF sequencing, as well as further phylogenetic analyses, validated the identification of strain CREA OF 1276 among H. rosae. This work is the first report of H. rosae as causal agent of white rot in philodendron in Italy and worldwide and also represents a new description of pathogenic lifestyle of this corticoid species. Czech Mycology 73(2): 121-135, 2021. Accessible online (open acces) from: http://www.czechmycology.org/_cmo/CM73201.pdf ---- Two recent records of the rare fungus Dentipratulum bialoviesense from Boubínský prales virgin forest in the Czech Republic were documented morphologically and molecularly. One collection from the type locality, Białowieża virgin forest in Poland, was used for morphological comparison. The Boubínský prales collections agree with the Białowieża collection in macro- and micromorphological characters and ecology, namely their growth on decaying wood of Picea abies in natural forest. Simultaneously, Boubínský prales collections clearly differ in their ITS rDNA region from the only published Dentipratulum sequence based on a collection from France, originally identified as D. bialoviesense but currently representing a paratype of the recently described species D. crystallinum. Consequently, the Boubínský prales sequences most likely represent the first sequence data of D. bialoviesense. Notes on the taxonomy and ecology of D. bialoviesense and D. crystallinum are added, suggesting that the identity of all collections should be verified molecularly in future, especially those from wood of broadleaved trees in France. Photographs of dried basidiomata and key micromorphological characters of D. bialoviesense from Boubínský prales and Białowieża are provided.
