This paper describes the exploring of fuzzy logic in wire manufacturing process to determine the moisture free PVC temperature. Insulated wire manufacturing process goes through number of phases before yielding a desired quality of insulated wire. The first phase of wire manufacturing is the controlling of PVC- temperature to make it free from the moisture. The idea of adding the fuzzy logic in the decision of set temperature based on PVC-grade is to implement Operator’s experience exercised in optimizing moisture free temperature. Ambiguity involved in the operator’s setting is attempted to model by developing a Fuzzy Inference Scheme (FIS). Simulation model developed using Fuzzy Control block in MATLAB has been studied for different types of Membership Functions (MF) and Defuzzification methods. The fuzzy logical decisions found to be in good agreement with operators manual settings after adequate tuning of FLC.
