Background: Primary pelvic Echinococcus granulosus infection is clinically rare. The reported cases of pelvic Echinococcus granulosus infection are considered to be secondary to cystic echinococcosis in other organs. Single Echinococcus granulosus infection is very rare. Case summary: In this report, we presented a case of primary pelvic Echinococcus granulosus infection admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University. We described the key diagnostic points and surgical treatment of this case. We also summarized the epidemiological characteristics and pathogenesis of the disease. Conclusion: Our case may provide clinical data for the diagnosis and treatment of primary pelvic Echinococcus granulosus infection.

The involvement of the genital tract of a hydatid cyst is rare and the occurrence in the uterus is an extreme rarity. The diagnosis of this localization is difficult because the clinical and radiological findings are often misleading and the diagnosis is often worn during surgery and after histopathological examination of the surgical specimen. We report the case of a patient who consulted for primary infertility, with a clinical finding as the only anomaly significantly large uterus, and imaging pointing strongly toward an ovarian multilocular cyst, and in which the discovery of hydatid cyst was accidental intraoperative with double localization uterine and omental. Radical treatment cannot be discussed in this young patient of 32 years and gravid 0. The removal of the cyst wall completely and excision of the mass epiploic seemed reasonable. The patient was placed under Mebendazol and is always under the supervision of a possible recurrence.

Human hydatid cyst is an endemic disease and its distribution is worldwide affecting many countries in the Northern Africa as well as other parts of the world. This disease is a major public health problem in our country. The incidence of the disease has been increasing in the absence of an effective prevention policy. In addition to liver and lung localization representing 90% of the disease, other organs and tissues are spared. Acute recurrent pancreatitis caused by the presence of hydatid membranes in the biliary tract is very rare disease. This is considered unusual. We report a case of acute recurrent pancreatitis in a female patient who had presented an acute pancreatitis six months ago. Keywords: Acute recurrent pancreatitis; Hydatid cyst; Biliary cystic fistula; Surgery; ERCP and Endoscopic Sphincterotomy
... Okumuş, on the other hand, documented a case in which the uterus was the primary involvement (13). Başgül et al. described a case of uterine hydatid cyst formation following hepatic hydatid cyst formation (14). Nermin Koç described a case of a primary uterine hydatid cyst that mimicked a uterine leiomyoma (15). ...
... Because of the resemblance between hydatid cyst and malignant illness of the associated organ, accurate diagnosis is critical. As a result, hydatid cysts should be included in the differential diagnosis of cystic pelvic masses, particularly in endemic areas (14,15). Imaging modalities revealed a multiseptal cystic development originating from the uterine fundus and spreading to the cervix in our case. ...

... The localization of the hydatid cyst in the uterus is an extremely rarely encountered entity and highly interesting. Basgul et al [1] reported case of hydatid cyst in uterus, Okumus and co-workers 4 also reported a case in which the primary involvement was uterus and the diagnosis was confirmed by microscopic studies after the surgery. Gueddana and colleagues 5 reported a case with intrauterine Hydatidosis whose hydatid vesicles were found in the vagina and a total hysterectomy was carried out. ...

Introduction: Hydatid Cysts, or Hydatidosis, result from an intermediary host to Taenia Echinococcus larva turning into a cyst within the organism. Hydatidosis is a common zoonosis that affects many humans and animals, especially in poorly developed countries. The most frequently involved organs are the liver, followed by the lung. The involvement of the genital tract is rare, and the occurrence in the uterus is an extreme rarity. Case: A 32yr F P2L2 presented with menorrhagia for 3 months, pain lower abdomen for 1 month and heaviness in the lower abdomen for 1 month. No history of loss of weight and appetite. On physical and gynaecological examinations, no pathological finding was detected. USG and CT revealed a hydatid cyst in the spleen and right adnexa. Conclusion: Hydatid cysts in the genital tract are rare, and their occurrence in the adnexa is an extreme rarity. Differentiation between hydatid cysts and malignant disease of the related organ is difficult. To avoid misdiagnosis, a careful examination of pelvic masses should be carried out in endemic areas to detect hydatid cysts.

Hydatidosis is an economically important disease of farm animals and mammals. The present study was carried out to investigate the granulosis in cattle and buffaloes from July 2019 to June 2020 from south Punjab. A total of 1242 animals comprising Sheep= 302, Goat= 330, Buffalos=300 and Cows =310 were examined. The present study was conducted to evaluate the seroprevalence and effect of Echinococcosis granulosis on the biochemical parameters in small and large ruminants of south Punjab. The ANOVA followed by post-hoc Duncun test revealed that AST and ALP were the significantly high in the infected buffalo. Although the ALT, albumin, total bilirubin, GGT, Creatinine, Sodium, Potassium and Calcium did not differs significantly between the infected and non-infected large ruminants. The values of AST in sheep and ALT in goat significantly high in the infected host while ALP, Albumin, Total Bilirubin, GGT, Creatinine, Sodium, Potassium and Calcium did not differ significantly in small ruminants. The packed cell volume, red blood cells, hemoglobin, leukocytes, neutrophil, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophil, basophil and platelets did not differ significantly between the infected and non-infected small and large ruminants. ELISa kit of LgG was used for the diagnosis of cysts of Echinococcosis. Overall prevalence of hydatidosis was 34.46%. The overall prevalence of hydatid cyst of E. granulosus during the study for small and large ruminants was 30.46%, 42.42%, 28.00% and 36.46% of Sheep, Goat, Buffalo and Cow respectively. The overall prevalence of Echinococcus in small and large ruminants was 34.46 percent and the showed that ii has significant (χ2 =0.0391) difference between the large and small ruminants and buffalo has a very small infected frequency. The prevalence of granulosus was more in small ruminants as compared to Buffalos. The hematological and biological values of mean and standard error mean were higher in infected animals as compared to the normal animals.
... The adult worm is located at the intestine of dogs; eggs or oncospheres are passed in the dog's stool. 2 Humans get infected by ingesting eggs, as people are intermediate hosts in the life cycle of worms. 3 This occurs when people consume food or drinks contaminated with eggs or come into contact with fecal material containing eggs. 4 Incidence of hydatid cystic disease in genital organs is low around 0.5%. Hydatid cyst most often found in liver -60%, lungs -30% accounting approximately 90% of the disease. ...

Introduction: Echinococcus granulosus is a parasitic tape worm. The definitive host is the dog and humans are one of its intermediate hosts. It involves organs such as liver and lungs. Uterus involvement is very rare. Presentation of case: We here report a case of primary uterus hydatid cyst that we had to remove her uterine on left ovary and fallopian tube. Generalized toxic shock and infection due to cyst rupture or organ dysfunction due to invasion (like our patient) or pressure of cyst are complications of this cyst. Discussion: Because of low incidence of hydatid cysts in uterus it can be misdiagnosed by mimicking other conditions such as multi-cystic ovarian tumor, hemorrhagic ovarian cyst, endometrioma, cystadenoma, leiomyoma and etc. Conclusion: Especially in endemic area for this parasite, one of differential diagnoses of pelvic cyst must be echinococcosis.
... Reviewing the literature, we found less than ten articles about primary involvement of reproductive organs, among them only in one article, the primary involvement of fallopian tubes was reported (5). The involvement of other organs such as liver, uterus, spleen and fallopian tubes have been demonstrated (6,7). In fallopian tube, the disease presented as a paraovarian cyst (8). ...

Background: Human hydatid disease is caused by echinococcus granulosus and has a global distribution. It mainly affects the liver, but can involve other organs. In this paper, we present a case of a primary hydatid cyst of the fallopian tube. Case presentation: A 69-year-old (gravida 16, para 16 woman) with abdominal pain and urinary frequency was presented to the Gynecology Clinic of Imam Khomeini Hospital Sari, Iran, in September 2011. On physical examination, there was a nontender abdominal mass under umbilicus. The sonography of abdomen and pelvic showed a multiloculated mass with thick septation in right adnexa suggesting mucinous ovarian tumor, while the uterus, left adnex, liver, spleen and kidneys were all normal. The patient’s chest x-ray was normal. Serum tumor markers including CEA, CA125, αFP and βHCG were negative. An exploratory laparotomy was performed. There was a 20 cm firm elastic mass in the anterior surface of uterus originated from the right fallopian tube and was removed. Hydatid cyst was confirmed by pathological examination. Conclusion: Although primary hydatid cyst of genital tract is rare, in high prevalence countries it should be considered.
