Sol gel method is used to prepare semiconductor cadmium selenide nanocrystallites together with Europium ions in the silica matrix. Sample doped with Terbium is used for getting the green fluorescence. The fluorescence spectra reveal that the intensity of characteristic red emission of europium increases considerably in the presence of CdSe particl...

A new red-shade environmental friendly ceramic pigment with the general formula Y2−xTbxZr2−yFeyO7−δ [x = 0, 0.25 and y = 0.15, 0.25, 0.35] was prepared by a polymeric sol-gel process and after calcination at 1300 °C for 12h. The solid solution range with defect fluorite structure was determined by XRD. The presence of terbium ions promoted the inco...

Three samples, Tb³⁺/PVA. Eu³⁺/PVA and Tb³⁺,Eu³⁺/PVA were prepared by slow evaporation method. The excitation and emission spectra of each sample were analyzed. Red, green and blue emissions from PVA film doped with both Tb³⁺ and Eu³⁺ were obtained for a single excitation at 380 nm. From the emission spectra the colour coordinates for each of the emission lines were calculated. The colour purity of each colour estimated from the fluorescence spectrum with the help of CIE 1931 XYZ colour space. The red emission from Eu³⁺ shows 100% purity whiles the green emission from Tb³⁺ shows 98.7% purity. Tb³⁺ ions also give blue emission with colour purity of 100%.
