The lentulid grasshopper Mecostibus minimus n. sp. is described from southern Somalia, the most northerly record of this family known and the first record from Somalia. The species appears close on the basis of external characters to M. minor (Bruner 1910) from Kenya and Tanzania but may readily be distinguished from it by the characteristic shape...

Two new species of Sauracris Burr 1900, S. simonettae and S. popovi, are described from Somalia. The species groups within the genus are established using the morphology of the aedeagus, which is figured for all species. Acoustic behaviour is reported in S. crypta Popov 1959. The distribution in Somalia of S. lacerta Burr 1900, S. simonettae n. sp., S. popovi n. sp. and S. striolata (Ramme 1929) is mapped. A new tribe, the Allagini is proposed to accommodate the genera Sauracris and Allaga Karsch 1896. Its affinities are believed to lie with either the Catantopinae or the Teratodinae. Correct subfamilial assignment must await a thorough systematic review of the spurthroated Acridoidea.
