Ganoderma is a genus of wood-decaying polypores fungi with several species, in which morphological delimitation has been challenging due to its large plasticity. Knowledge of the taxonomic diversity of Ganoderma in Cuba remains incomplete. Here, we identified some species, mainly laccate, of Ganoderma present in Cuba based on morphological and phylogenetic data and investigated their relationships with other species. Type specimens, recently collected materials, herbarium specimens and in vitro cultures were studied to delimit morphological species. The phylogenetic affinities of ten species were inferred based on multilocus (ITS rDNA, rpb2, tef1-α) DNA sequences to delimit phylogenetic species. In this work, 14 species of Ganoderma were recognized in Cuba, of which G. amazonense, G. curtisii, G. dussii and G. multiplicatum are reported for the first time. Ganoderma rodriguezii sp. nov. is described as a novel species. We confirmed G. amazonense is a non-laccate species although it is phylogenetically affine to laccate species. An identification key for studied species, nomenclatural information, updated descriptions and geographical distributions are presented. The lectotypification in second step of G. perzonatum, G. pulverulentum and G. zonatum was made here. To correctly interpret G. perzonatum, recent collections, including live strains from the type locality, are described. We confirm G. lucidum is not present in Cuba, despite previous records from the country.

Polypores with complex double-walled basidiospores with a pigmented endosporium ornamented with columns or ridges and a smooth hyaline exosporium are usually classified in the Ganodermataceae. Although the family presents well-delimited morphological features, recent phylogenetic studies have raised divergent evidences about its monophyly. In order to clarify uncertainties of generic delimitation and classification of the group and test its monophyly, morphological analysis and multilocus phylogenetic analyses based on Internal Transcribed Spacer, nuclear 28S rDNA, and portions of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II and translation elongation factor 1-alpha were carried out. The main outcomes of the study are (i) Ganodermataceae is recovered as monophyletic, (ii) Amaurodermellus is proposed to accommodate the neotropical Amauroderma ovisporum, (iii) Cristataspora is proposed to accommodate two former species of Ganoderma—G. coffeatum and G. flaviporum—with pale context and truncate basidiospores with endosporic ornamentation as ridges. Ganodermataceae is a remarkable group of polypore fungi, mainly characterized by particular doublewalled basidiospores with a coloured endosporium ornamented with columns or crests, and a hyaline smooth exosporium. In order to establish an integrative morphological and molecular phylogenetic approach to clarify relationship of Neotropical Amauroderma s.lat. within the Ganodermataceae family, morphological analyses, including scanning electron microscopy, as well as a molecular phylogenetic approach based on one (ITS) and four loci (ITS-5.8S, LSU, TEF-1α and RPB1), were carried out. Ultrastructural analyses raised up a new character for Ganodermataceae systematics, i.e., the presence of perforation in the exosporium with holes that are connected with hollow columns of the endosporium. This character is considered as a synapomorphy in Foraminispora, a new genus proposed here to accommodate Porothelium rugosum (≡ Amauroderma sprucei). Furtadoa is proposed to accommodate species with monomitic context: F. biseptata, F. brasiliensis and F. corneri. Molecular phylogenetic analyses confirm that both genera grouped as strongly supported distinct lineages out of the Amauroderma s.str. clade.

The Atlantic Forest is one of the most diverse and threatened biomes of the world. A list with 733 species of aphyllophoroid fungi reported from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest is presented based on an intensive search of literature records. These species are distributed in 219 genera and 47 families. Polyporaceae is the most highly represented family with 153 species; Phellinus is the genus with the highest number of species (42). ER 2012 – A preliminary checklist of polypores of Peru, with notes on distribution in the Andes-Amazon region and new records for the country. Mycosphere 3(3), 282–287, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/3/3/2 A checklist of 33 polypore species (Hymenochaetales and Polyporales) from the Camanti-Marcapata Biological Corridor (CMBC) of Cusco, Peru, is provided with data about distribution in the Andes-Amazon region. More than 90% of polypore species reported herein are new records to the country. Introduction The Camanti-Marcapata Biological Corridor (CMBC) is located in the south-eastern corner of the department of Cusco, Peru, in the districts of Camanti and Marcapata, which encompass the headwater region of the Madre de Dios River watershed. The CMBC encompasses an area of 197,225.55 hectares located between 13.2– 13.26º S and 70.77–70.54º W (Fig. 1) and ranges in elevation from 500–3500 msl. The area is characterized by extremely high precipitation up to 7,000 mm per year and an annual mean temperature of 25 ºC. The typical vegetation of the area includes the upper limits of lowland Amazonian moist forest as well as Andean submontane and montane cloud forest. The area is difficult to access due to its rugged topography, dense vegetation, and heavy precipitation. Because of its pristine condition, the region has been the focus of planning aimed at the declaration of a regional conservation area. However, no mycodiversity studies of Basidiomycota fungi had ever been conducted in this region. Only recently, a new genus of freshwater fungi from submerged wood, Chaetorostratum quincemilensis Zelski, Raja, A.N. Mill & Shearer (Zelski et al. 2011), was described from this area. The area is traversed by the recently constructed transama-zonian, interoceanic highway and the principal threats include deforestation and a steady rise in gold mining. Botanical and mycological inventories were initiated in the region by authors Salvador and Janovec, and collabora-tors. The purpose of this paper is to present the first checklist of polypore fungi of the Andes-Amazon region of south-eastern Peru.
